New Shipping Container Collapses to Quarter the Size
A possible new way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the shipping industry has emerged. The answer is in the design. Once cargo is unloaded those bulky, heavy containers still take up the same amount of space. A company called CargoShell has developed a collapsible shipping container that weighs 25% less than traditional steel containers. It also takes less greenhouse gas emissions to produce.
The container collapses to one fourth of its full size. This means more containers can be shipped back to the source in less space.
