California Power Plant Asks for Regulation
A new California power plant is asking for a permit to limit its carbon dioxide emissions. The Russell City Energy Center says its possible the EPA could start regulating greenhouse gas emissions in March. The plant is trying to stay ahead of the curve and ensure future compliance.
The power plant is a natural gas plant, which emits about half of the CO2 emissions that traditional coal plant use. This is reportedly the first utility of its kind to receive such a permit.

Plastiki to Set Sail on Global Garbage Quest
An eco-boat containing 12 thousand recycled soda bottles is getting ready to set sail. “The Plastiki” is the brainchild of adventure, ecologist David de Rothschild. He and his crew are going to sale the boat from San Francisco to Sydney. They will be stopping along the way for a visit at two of the largest ocean garbage patches. The point of the journey is to highlight the global waste problem.
