Bluefin Tuna Ban
A United Nations scientific agency is backing a ban on bluefin tuna. Bluefin tuna are found in the North Atlantic and Florida. Most of it is caught in Spain, France, and Italy. It’s a sushi delicacy in Japan that can fetch up to $100,000.
The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) says the species needs to recover from overfishing. According to CITES, since 1970 the bluefin tuna population has decreased by 80%. 175 countries are due to vote on the ban in March.

U.S. Navy Plans to Halve Fossil Fuels
The U.S. Navy says it will halve its use of fossil fuels by 2020. This is just one of a number of clean energy measures by the U.S. armed forces.
To achieve their ambitious goal, the Navy plans to deploy a green strike group by 2016, which will operate entirely without fossil fuels. It has also commissoned an electric drive aircraft carrier.
