Stephen H. Schneider was a leading climate scientist and tenured professor at Stanford University. He passed away at age 65 on a plane to London on July 19, 2010. In recent years, Schneider battled with mantle cell lymphoma, a rare form of cancer.
His captivating passion for the planet and ability to simplify climate change made him a force to be reckoned with, especially when debating global warming. He was a consultant for the White House in every single administration from Nixon to Obama, a feat that speaks for itself. Schneider was the founder and editor of the journal Climatic Change and authored or co-authored over 450 scientific papers.
We had the pleasure of interviewing the “climate warrior” a couple of years ago and compiled a retrospective of Stephen Schneider in his own words. Watch the video.
