German Security Threatened by Wind Turbines

Germany is blocking a 1.5 billion euro investment in wind turbines. The government believes the turbines are a potential threat to national security because they could potentially shield enemy aircraft and interfere with radar detection. The turbines were planned for the northern coast. Investigations are underway to see if the threat is a credible one. About 8 percent of Germany’s electricity is from wind and they hope to increase it to 15% by 2020.

Grizzly Bears Are Once Again Threatened

Grizzly bears are back on the threatened species list. Grizzlies in and around Yellowstone National Park have suffered due to shrinking habitat. The whitebark pine forests that provide shelter and a portion of their diet have been nearly wiped out by climate change. The bears were first added to the list in 1975.

Obama Praised by Castro

Former President Fidel Castro praised President Obama in his outspoken efforts to combat global warming and admitting that developed nations caused most of the damage. However, he then said that capitalism is not in line with a clean planet. Castro has not been seen in public since 2006 yet he continues to write columns. He is a fierce critic to western capitalism and U.S. presidents.
